In the winter, Acadia National Park can be quite spectacular, especially with fresh snow blanketing the landscape. The carriage roads provide an outstanding back-country experience for cross-country skiers and many of the trails can be traversed with snowshoes. With relatively few visitors in the winter, it's not uncommon to spend the entire day without spotting any others on the trail. For the landscape photographer, it can open up new perspectives on the already powerful vistas of Acadia National Park. All you need to do is dress warmly.
