Stealth and patients are Paramount in taking wildlife photographs, but a bit of luck always comes in handy. Naturally, the photographer must be there to take the shot, thus I spend a good deal of time in the outdoors hiking, biking, or paddling in search of animals to photograph. I spend weeks each season working from a base camp at some remote location while out searching for creatures to shoot. . . with my camera. In the fall especially, I spend time hunting moose in the deep woods of central Maine where they are plentiful. One could say I'm a big game hunter. . . with my camera. I love wildlife photography.

A doe visits our home.
Some folks have referred to me as a tree hugger, but quite frankly I never hugged a tree in my life, though I have hugged a deer. This friendly doe found our garden to be a perfect feeding buffet and was not willing to stop munching the begonias. Come to think of it, I did kiss a tree once, but it certainly was not voluntary; the skis I was wearing stubbornly refused to make a particularly nasty steep icy turn on a remote high country trail.
