One fish, two eagles - Feathers will fly.
I was paddling my kayak at Lower Sabao Lake in Maine, when I spotted this bald eagle in the tree tops. I watched as he swooped over the lake and snagged a large fish from the water. He soared over the lake to land about half a mile away on the shore. I paddle like a mad man taking the occasional shot as I went until I was close enough to simply watch the action as a second eagle challenged the first for his prize. The feathers were flying all over the place. . . these guys meant business. A lone loon screeched and fled in fright from the battle scene. In the end the first eagle maintained his dominance and finished his meal in peace, though I suspect he was hurting from the encounter.
